Q: Can I have some cool comic art?
A: YES! But first you must please follow the steps outlined in the Publishing Art Request How-To. We are unable to supply art without the source data and visual reference for each image.
Q: I don’t know where to find the source data for the comic art I’m requesting. Is there a site you can recommend?
A: Unfortunately, we can’t recommend a specific site, but there are many resources available online, i.e. image search, comic websites, etc.
Q: I need this art right away – can you please send it by end of day/tomorrow/etc.?
A: Though the Art Requests team makes every effort to fulfill requests in a timely fashion, we cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date. All requests are fulfilled in the order received, and we ask that you please allow 7-10 business days for turnaround (though exceptionally large requests may take longer).
Q: I’m unable to download art from A.S.G.A.R.D. Can you please send it to me instead?
A: NO – Art Requests cannot provide content that is otherwise already available on A.S.G.A.R.D. If you believe there is an issue with your level of access permissions or your contract, please reach out to LicensingDAM@marvel.com for assistance.
Q: I can’t sign in to A.S.G.A.R.D. Can you send me my password?
A: NO – Art Requests does not manage A.S.G.A.R.D. accounts. Please reach out to LicensingDAM@marvel.com for any account access issues.
Q: My Marvel contract is in the process of being executed/renewed. Can you please send me art in the meantime?
A: NO – Art Requests can only supply art that falls under a current, valid deal.
Q: I saw a new Marvel Studios movie poster/asset online – can you please send it to me?
A: All Marvel film assets go through a substantial review process before being cleared for Licensing use. As such, Art Requests cannot provide this type of content. If cleared, all film assets are uploaded to A.S.G.A.R.D. for direct access as soon as possible.
Q: Is my product design approved? What’s the best art to use on my product?
A: Art Requests is a provisioner of artwork only. We cannot approve product or weigh in on product development direction.
Q: You rejected a request for a piece of art, but my contact at Marvel told me it was ok. What gives?
A: Not all artwork usage cases may be strictly black and white. Please be sure to include any relevant correspondence with Marvel team members when submitting your request, so our team can be aware of the full context.
Q: Can you create some new art for me?
A: Art Requests is only intended for the provision of already existing (but not otherwise available) content. Other contacts, such as the Creative Brief and Custom Art processes, are more appropriate for requesting new/custom art.
Q: Can you send me art for use in office decoration, an event space, etc.?
A: NO – Art Requests can only provide content for Licensing use.
Q: Is the content I receive through Art Requests approved for use?
A: The Art Requests team cannot guarantee that every piece of art we provide will be approved on product – final/official approval rests with the Product Development and Brand Assurance teams. That said, we make every effort to ensure that any content provided follows the guidelines for usable licensed art set forth by Marvel Brand Management.
Q: What type of art is off-limits for Licensing use?
A: Some Marvel images may be appropriate in one context but not appropriate for Licensing use. Marvel Licensing enforces limitations on any art containing (but not limited to) the following:
- Graphic violence: excessive blood/gore, extremely realistic portrayals of guns/firearms, dead/maimed characters, etc.
- Overly or gratuitously sexual content
- Portrayals of alcohol, smoking, drugs, etc.
- Depictions of real-world figures, i.e. creators, politicians, celebrities, etc.
- Overtly religious, political, or otherwise sensitive content
- Parodies/riffs on non-Marvel IP
- Any other content that may cast Marvel or its characters in an inappropriate light
